New iPad 8 2020 Latest 8th Generation

Hey guys it’s DramaJoJo, and today we are taking a look at the latest 8th Generation iPad. I think Apple should start calling this one the iPad SE because that’s actually what it is. Like the iPhone SE and the Apple Watch SE, this 8th Gen iPad gives you the most value for your money. 

Now, why do I say that? Because it starts at Rs.29,900 for the 32GB variant. Actually, You can get it for as low as Rs.26,900 if you go with some of the credit card offers. And at that price, there is no other tablet or even a laptop for that matter, which comes even close to its performance. 

In the box, we get the iPad itself, Some paperwork and Apple stickers, USB type C to Lightning cable, and a 20-watt charging brick. Yes, the 8th generation iPad which starts at Rs.29,900 comes with a 20watt charger, but none of the iPhone going forward does. This is just plain stupid.

Anyways, coming back to the iPad itself. Yes, this looks the same as the 7th Gen iPad, so if you are using that one, there is really no need for you to upgrade to this one. But it comes with a much better Apple 12 Bionic processor with Neural engine, same as the one we saw in the iPhone XS, so there is a big jump in its performance compared to the A10 processor in the 7th Gen iPad. 

Now while the starting price is just fantastic, I strongly think that you should go with the 128GB variant, instead of the 32GB one. If all you want to use your iPad for is consuming content on streaming services, FaceTime calls, and some web browsing, you can make do with the 32GB variant. But with these iPad’s lasting for well over 5-7 years, and with the software updates becoming larger and larger, you will face some issues due to the storage, so I think it's best to go with the 128GB variant now. 

With a stellar starting price, very capable processor, 2160x1620 pixel Retina display, Touch ID sensor under the home button, a headphone jack, Smart connector to connect accessories, Apple pencil support, and software updates for 4-5 years at least, this 8th Generation iPad lets you do more than 90% of what the more expensive iPad   Air 4th generation and the iPad Pro can do, at less half the price, which is just amazing. 

Now, who is this 8th generation iPad for?-It’s for someone, who wants the software features that iPad OS offers, but without breaking their bank? You get access to all hosts of Apple’s and even 3rd party apps, which are plenty for the iPad. This iPad is for someone who likes to consume a lot of media or play a few games. With support for 1st generation Apple pencil, it is also for someone who likes to sketch or pain. It is a note-taking device for students, or with PowerPoint and keynotes, you can even make your presentations on it. And with most of the cases being held over Zoom calls, this iPad is really good for it. It is also for someone who is looking to get a tablet that lasts for years and years. Apple is very good with software support, so you will get at least 4-5 years of software support on this if not more, and even after that, you can keep on using it without any major issues. I know a few guys who are still holding on to their 2nd generation iPad’s, so we know they are built to last. And as mentioned before, it does all of this, without leaving a huge void in your bank account. If you want to do some serious typing on this thing, I suggest you get some sort of keyboard attachment for it. While the onscreen keyboard, is good enough, it is just not tactile, for long hours of writing sessions. You don’t have to get one from Apple, there are a few 3rd party ones that perform just as good if not better. With new iPad OS updates, all the new features like the mouse support and widgets come down to this iPad as well. The performance of this iPad is just amazing. You won’t feel any lags or stutters on this, no matter what you do on it. The iPad OS battery life is really good. It gives you 10 hours of usage out of 1 charge, and that is just amazing. 

It has these big bezels, but that lets Apple house the Touch ID sensor and the physical home button on the bottom chin, and many people actually prefer using this over the face ID. Now everything is not sunshine and rainbows with this iPad. At this price, it is obvious Apple had to cut some corners. First off, as I said before, the design is the same as the 7th Gen iPad, so there are these uneven big bezels at the top and bottom. Unlike the iPad Air 4th gen and iPad pro’s which have smaller uniform bezels. There is no USB C port, so that limits the number of accessories you can connect to it. You can get dongles, but that’s just more stuff you need to carry around. USB C port on an iPad is much more convenient. The bottom-firing speakers are not really that powerful. The rear 8-megapixel camera is just good for scanning things and not anything much, but the front-facing camera is even worst at just 1.2 megapixels. With 720p resolution, It barely gets the job done for video calls. There is still no multi-user support, but this problem doesn’t have to do with this iPad exactly, it is a software feature that is missing on all iPad’s.-As I said before it doesn’t get major updates over the 7th generation, so people having that, done need to make the switch. And for long typing sessions, you will need to use some sort of external keyboard. 

Now the biggest problem with this iPad is not actually with this iPad. Actually, the competition is not even catching up to Apple’s previous-generation iPad’s, so Apple doesn’t really have to work too hard to bring any major radical redesign to this entry-level iPad. So in a way, we should be blaming the competition. That being said, I strongly feel, Apple should have updated at least the selfie camera and the base storage on this 8th generation iPad. Other than that, I don’t have any major complaints with this iPad. It is very light, so using it for an extended time is not an issue.

There is a headphone jack, so you don’t have to spend on Bluetooth headphones. I mean you still can, but you don’t have to. Performance is amazing, and it can basically run everything that I trough it at it, without any hiccups. I mostly use this one to write scripts for these videos, and as a second display to go through my social media while watching TV. My wife uses it for some of her office work, and it has been more than sufficient for our needs so far. So yes, I definitely think that this 8th generation 2020 iPad is the most value for money tablet that you can get. This is not the only tablet that Apple announced recently, there is the new 4th Generation iPad Air as well, so which of these 2 should you get?

iPad Air 4 VS Galaxy Tab S7 which one you should be buying in 2020

Hey guys this is Dramajojo with max tech and what I have right here is the iPad Air 4 from apple we just got it on Friday and we're going to be comparing it to Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S7. This guy right here is 600 for the iPad Air and 650 dollars for the Tab S7 right now so in this reviews we're going to be comparing everything between the design the displays the display quality speakers the camera's microphones everything you can imagine so we can give you an answer on which one you should be buying in 2020. 

What I have right here are the official cases and the pencils for each of these devices. They're actually swapped but I’m going to be getting into these a little bit later but first, let's start with the design by far the best thing about the iPad Air 4 is that it's taking on the design of the iPad Pro or the 2018 iPad pro because we have that single camera lens right here we've got flat sides all the way around which is a really nice and modern design that's exactly how the iPhone 12 series is and honestly.

I really love this design and of course, Tab S7 also got the design from the 2018 iPad pro it kind of copied it you've got the flat sides and I think it actually has the film still on here so I’m going to take that off. So now that we got the film off you can see that we have like this brushed finish on the sides of the Samsung and they do take in fingerprints quite a bit more than the iPad air because this is aluminum so it's nice and matte it's not very slick but yeah this is the design from the 2018 iPad pro.

2020 actually has a square camera bump with the ultra-wide lens and the lidar scanner which the air does not have however the Tab S7 as you guys can see right here. It does get the ultra-wide camera so we're going to be testing that in just a second comparing the size you can definitely tell that the iPad Pro is a little bit wider than the Tab S7 but the tab is actually a little bit taller. So they have different aspect ratios and in comparison with thinness, it looks very similar however if I’m looking very closely I think tab seven is a  little bit thicker now getting into the other physical differences.

We do have four speaker grilles on both sides so on the iPad air we have two on the top tablet seven same things and on the bottom. We have two there as well however the iPad air only has dual speakers it doesn't have quad speakers like the Tab S7 has so we're definitely gonna have to test that out. The iPad Air has the pencil connector right here on the side just like the iPad Pro does so let me grab that pencil really quick as you guys can see pencil right here magnetically attaches right on the side this is actually pretty nice and it automatically charges connects everything like that and with the tab seven simply just snaps in right there on the back this little plastic or glass piece. I’m not sure but very nice now we'll get into the performance of these a little bit later on the bottom. We have USB type C on both of these tablets which is the best connector for a tablet for sure now the final difference I want to get into is touch id or the fingerprint sensor now both of these tablets have that that's really unique about the iPad Air 4. 

It's basically the first iPad to have touch id in the power button right here and they totally just redesigned this they've never had a power button touch id like this before of course they had it on the home button which was on the front and it looked pretty bad. Of course, now we're saying that but yeah this has it on the front and the Tablet S7 has it right here on the side. So, let's test out which one works better or faster, let's first start off with the iPad air. 

Okay, there you go just locked me in automatically that's what's nice about the power button touch id is that you can turn on the display and unlock it at the same time. Now the only downside I see about this compared to the iPad Pro which has face id is I’m used to tapping the display and swiping up to unlock because face id happens automatically. This does not have that you have to use the touch id now let's try out the Tab S7 has it right here. Look at that try it again all right I have to say the Tab S7 is faster, I don't know if it's the animations but it gets you in almost instantly. So, I think Tab S7 is the winner.

For the fingerprint scanner comparison now let's go ahead and compare the displays on both of these as you guys can see! we have rounded corners which are really nice and modern but if you look at them more closely it looks like the bezels. The iPad Air is quite a bit thicker than the ones on the Tab S7. So we did compare to the iPad Pro and you can easily tell the difference there as well so the Tablet S7 has  I guess a better-looking display with thinner bezels. Now one thing I did notice is that the Tablet S7's display looks gray right now like I don't know if it's the reflections but the iPad Air has a very deep black display like everything looks very black. Compared to this looks kind of gray so I think the coatings maybe are better on the iPad air now in terms of reflectivity. Oh yeah! the Tab S7 right now looks like a  mirror I can see our microphone right above very clearly compared to the iPad air it's all kind of soft it's not as reflective so there's another point for the iPad air. 

Now let's compare the maximum brightness of both of these displays as you can see! I have it maxed out on the iPad Air and the Tab S7 true tone is off and it looks me it looks to me like the Tab S7 is brighter honestly. If I lift it up to point it towards that camera you guys let me know which one is brighter but to me, it definitely looks like the tab is brighter and the iPad Air's display looks very cool right now with true tone off so that's very very interesting. 

Now let's get into the display quality and as you guys can see we have a display p3 color gamut test and you guys should be seeing the WebKit logo on the iPad air but you don't see it on the Tab S7. I guess it can't do  p3 colors I've been testing it out and nothing showing up now the reason for that is because the Tab S7 at least the regular one no longer gets an AMOLED display only the s7 plus. Now the nice thing is that it does have a 120-hertz refresh rate and we're gonna get into that in just a minute all right guys.

Now, this is interesting I turned on an 8k HDR video and the Tab S7 has controls for HDR but it can go up to 1440p the iPad air, on the other hand, does not get HDR but it gets 4k resolution which is very interesting that's awesome. So let's let these play and compare the quality as you guys can see even though the Tab S7 gets an HDR option the iPad air just looks so much better the colors pop more it actually looks brighter even though it doesn't have HDR and because the display has better coatings where it's deeper you got deeper blacks everything. Actually looks better there's more contrast and the image on the iPad Air is just killing the image on the Tab S7. Now let's finally get into the 60 hertz versus 120-hertz display refresh rate comparison obviously the iPad air gets 60 hertz instead of the iPad pro's 120 hertz. That's a big downside that it does not get promotion and that's a huge upside for the Tab S7 as you guys can see right here on the display with adaptive you're getting up to a 120-hertz refresh rate. 

So let's go ahead and compare it now you guys are looking at slow motion clips from the top camera and as you guys can see swiping left and right through the home screens the Tab S7 is just so much more smooth and then also while going through a web browser page. You can just see how much smoother Tab S7 is and this is actually going to make it feel more snappy. It's going to make it feel like it has a lot more performance which we're actually going to be testing a little bit later and of course, the display refresh rate also impacts the performance of the pencils. So the S pen because of the 120 hertz it gets a latency as low as 9 milliseconds so what you guys are seeing right now is a slow-motion 120 fps comparison. So let me know down in the comments below if you can notice a difference in latency and if the s pen looks more smooth. Now let's finally get into the speaker comparison between these two quad speakers on the tablet 7 dual speakers on the iPad air now I do want to mention I have Dolby atmos on the Tab S7 so you guys always ask about that let's get right into it.
